Polly Umrigar was a great Indian cricketer. He was born on 28th March, 1926 in Sholapur, Maharashtra, India. He was primarily a right handed middle order batsman and occasional right arm off spin bowler. Umrigar was played fifty nine test matches scoring three thousand six hundred thirty one runs for India and two hundred forty three first class matches scoring sixteen thousand one hundred fifty five runs during his cricket career.
Umrigar was played first class cricket for his home team Bombay (now Mumbai). He captained in the Indian national team for eight test matches.
Umrigar was an outstanding Indian player who made the first double century that was against New Zealand in Hyderabad. Umrigar was from Parsi religion or Zoroastrian community in India. He was dominant six feet long man who made matchless records in cricket history.
