Indian Women’s Cricket Team

India has women’s team for Cricket as well. The women team and cricket is not as popular as men’s but India is one of the top teams in this format as well. For long time the women’s cricket team association was independent from its male counterpart.

It is very recently that BCCI has included women’s cricket team under its supervision. As soon as the womens’ cricket team has come under BCCI it is doing very well at home and abroad. The players are also very enthused by the facilities provided to them now and recognition. Indian fast bowler Jhulan Goswami was recently awarded ICC best player award. She is the fastest bowler in the women circuit.

Indian Women’s Cricket Team :

Indian women team played its first test match against West Indies in the year 1976-77. The six match series was drawn. Indian team had won all three edition of Asia cup and have beaten Australia and England in their own backyard. India had never won the world cup though but they remain runners up in the 2005 edition.

The record set by Indian team players in the women’s arena is very pleasing. Mithali Raj, captain of Indian team holds the world record of scoring highest number of runs in an innings, 214. She scored against England. Jaya sharma holds the record of scoring highest run in One Day for India, 138 not out which she scored against Pakistan. Indian team hopes to do well in the upcoming series fallowing their good run f form with the bat and ball.
