Ajit Laxman Wadekar is a former Indian cricketer who has represented India on an international level. He is a former captain of the Indian test cricket team. He was born on 1st April, 1941 in Bombay(now Mumbai), India. He is an aggressive left handed batsman who played many domestic cricket matches for Mumbai cricket team and test matches for Indian cricket team.
Wadekar is a great player and good fielder of Indian cricket team. His father wanted to be him an engineer, but he preferred to play cricket. He made his test debut for the India against the West Indian cricket team in year 1966. He made his first class debut for Mumbai cricket team in year 1958.
Wadekar became a captain of the Indian test cricket team in year 1971. He has played perfectly in all test matches for India. during his cricket career, he played thirty seven test matches for India. In year 1973-4, through some problems and Mumbai lost few trophies, He resigned as Indian captain and retired from first-class cricket. He served as a manager and chairman of selectors for some time in Indian cricket team.
