Indian Womens Cricket Team

Women’s cricket arrived in India much later; the Women’s Cricket Association of India was formed in 1973. The Indian women’s cricket team is the national women’s cricket team of India. Their ICC Ranking is No. 1 in all formats. The Indian women’s cricket team played their first test match in 1976 and 1977, when they drew with the West Indies in a six-match series. The Indian women’s cricket team won their first Asia Cup in 2004 and won 3 more Asia Cups. The Indian women’s cricket team reached the finals of 2005 World Cup, losing to final champions in Australia.  Mithali Raj is the current captain of the Indian Women’s Cricket team. Indian Women’s first recorded match was on   31 October 1976 with West Indies at Bangalore in India.

Around 1934, the first women’s Test was played between England and Australia. The International Cricket Council’s plan was to develop women’s cricket, the Women’s Cricket Association of India was combined with the Board of Control for Cricket in India in 2006.

Mithali Raj led India to its best result in Women’s ODI cricket when the team advanced to the finals of the 2005 Women’s Cricket World Cup.  Mithali Raj is also one of the three women’s captains who have led their side to a conquest in women’s Test cricket, the others being Shantha Rangaswamy and Mamatha Maben.

The national cricket team of India is known as the Indian cricket team. Cricket is the national sport of India and has millions of fans across the country. It is one game that unites the whole India. The Indian Cricket Team is the national cricket team of India Governed by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), it is a full member of the International Cricket Council (ICC) with Test and One Day International (ODI) status.

The Indian cricket team made its introduction in Test cricket, the highest level of international cricket, on June 25, 1932 at Lord’s, England becoming the sixth Test team. The team gained strength in the 1970s with the appearance of players such as Sunil Gavaskar and Kapil Dev. The current Indian cricket team consists of world’s important players like Sachin Tendulkar.  The highest paid sports team in the world, the Indian Cricket Team is one of the leading sides in world cricket today.

The Indian cricket team is currently ranked third by the ICC in Tests, first in ODIs and third in T20Is. Mahendra Singh Dhoni is the captain in all forms of the game while Duncan Fletcher is the coach. Under the guidance of Dhoni the Indian team has set a national record for most back to back ODI wins (nine straight wins) and has emerged as one of the most difficult teams in international cricket. The current team contains many of the world’s leading players, including Sachin Tendulkar and Virender Sehwag who hold several cricketing world records.

The Indian Cricket Team first test match was with England at Lord’s, London on 25–28 June 1932. In 2013 the test matches score was 472/ 4 and a last test match verse was with Australia at Delhi on 22–26 March 2013.
